Bible Question: What does the word (Selah) mean in the book of Psalms it is always at the endof a verse? |
Bible Answer: Shalom; This word is a type of musical accent. The same word is used for a balance (Strong's #5541) which is used to weigh objects, the lighter object goes up. The word is also related to other words that have the meaning of to lift up. From this we gather that selah, when used as a musical accent, is the lifting up (in a musical way) of the end of the verse. The Psalms were originally songs. Simchat Torah |
