Bible Question: Is The amplified bible is a takeoff of the ASB or NASB? Did the Amplified come from Wescott and Hort? Isnt Wescott and Hort full of errors? Didnt the main translator of the NASB refute the version based on the fact that the Wescott and Hort text was used? |
Bible Answer: This is rather a long time from the posting of this question. But, maybe it's not too late. I heard this on a Phoenix AZ. Christian radio station several years ago. I called Lockman Foundation and repeated what I had heard. They wrote me back, giving me a lengthy detailed letter. To give their response a basic answer, No! No one refuted anything about the NASB. What is most interesting is the whole story of Wescott and Hort is so untrue. Again this is a false rumor that is repeated with out having been read by the person repeating the error. In other words gossip. Does anyone believe for one moment that the KJV did not have sinfull men, human and frail working on that translation? There is no such thing as aperfect translation, as long as humankind is involved. Of all translations the NASB updated, far exceeds any word for word translation. At least that's my honest opinion. However with so many, many, english translations that are avaliable, even the most liberal, a person can still find Christ as Lord. I do not include the New World Translation of the JW. The sad thing is we are a nation of Biblically ignorant people. Is something wrong here? agape, justme |
