Bible Question: I understand God created man for fellowship with, and too, worship him. Is that said chapter and verse in the bible? Maybe more than one? As my son says "I wooked and I wooked, but I couldn't find it!" I believe it's there but have had not been able to locate it. Help I need it for my small group meeting? Thanks! |
Bible Answer: Greetings al k. I haven't been able to find "chapter and verse" but we can certainly understand that God desires to have a relationship with us from Scripture! In Genesis 1:27 we learn that man was created in the image of God. We know that God has a "triune" nature. Consider what the Trinity suggests: RELATIONSHIP - Sharing a mutual desire for fellowship unified by love. This is the kind of intimate relationship that God DESIRED when He created mankind. Adam and Eve enjoyed a perfect love relationship with God until, by their choice, they sought their own desire instead of God's. We know what happened next! (Adam and Eve)They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, "Where are you?" Gen 3:8-9 Note especially, that GOD SEEKS THEM! He is still seeking to restore that broken fellowsip with us today! Genesis 6 describes what God desires in His relationship with man. Noah was singled out from among the people of the earth by God and declared righteous (Gen 6:9). We learn that Noah "walked with God." This suggests not only fellowship but worship as well. Worship is the outward expression of our heart's devotion. Is it any wonder then that God looks upon the heart? . . .for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) . . .For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) . . . But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) . . .Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.(Romans 8:1) Ephesians 2:10 gives an excellent answer for the purpose of the believer. "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." I hope this helps! Blessings, Mommapbs PS:The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil. Ecc 12:13-14 |
