Bible Question (short): Church Leadership in Crisis |
Question (full): My church has a pastor and an influential ex pastor who now is a deacon. They currently have a major disagreement that is upsetting many. The main issue is over salvation issues that is framed in the Dallas/Ryrie book So Great Salvation vs the reformation understanding of the gospel. The ex pastor is giving leadership to the minor but vocal opposition and will problably be successful in causing the current pastor to leave the church or be responsible for a church split. Do you have any biblical references on former leaders needing to leave when they resign or how former leaders should conduct themselves. How can a pastor lead when a former leader starts to lead again. Do you have access to any codes of ethics for pastors? Scott |
