Bible Question:
grace and peace on this glorious day! I am a student at UGA, and i had the opportunity to talk about religion to one of my professors. He is from india, where Hinduism in the prevelant religion. we talked about it and Christianity, but class was over before we were able to finish our talk.(though we were in class, only him and I were having this discussion.) Praise God, my professor wants to talk about Christianity with me some more. I have a feeling that he is going to ask me about the bible. Do you guys have any suggestions on how i can prove to him that the bible is inspired by God, without Scripture (b/c i can't use scripture to prove my point if he doesn't believe it in the first place). thank you so much for your time and sharing your wisdom thus far on all of the questions people ask. it is such a blessing to learn from all of you!! |
Bible Answer: Hello Jenny Rule #1. Don't assume you can't use Scripture. The most effective way I know to prove inspiration is fulfilled prophecy. There are many examples (Jesus, Israel's history, etc.) that could be shared. Outside of Scripture you may want to discuss the cohesion of the Bible among various authors over several centuries. You could discuss the great care of transmission in an effort to ensure its accuracy. A great book for this is _The_Case_for_Christ_ by Lee Strobel. Very readable. Steve |
