Bible Question: Where in the Old Testament does it speak about diet and meat? |
Bible Answer: Greetings sassy, A list of foods that were unclean for the Isrealites is given in Deut. 14:1-21. There are several reasons for these forbidden foods. 1. The Isrealites were not allowed to eat blood. Since some of these animals were hunters and had eaten other animals they were forbidden to be eaten. 2. Some of the forbidden animals were used in pagan rituals and were therefore associated with those rituals. 3. Perhaps some of the restrictions were given just to continually remind Isreal that they were a seperate people committed to God. In Acts 10:9-16 Paul's dream tells us that such animals are no longer forbidden to us. prayon |
