Bible Note: Dear JRM: Thank you for your posting. I commend you on trying to make sure what you are being taught is the word of God and not the opinion from the man of God. . . . As soon as I read your reply, I thought of an excellent, plain English, teaching on the subject of rightly interpreting the Bible. I first discovered it about 3 years ago. I have read and re-read it, and have presented the teaching to adult Bible classes. Please take the time to read and/or listen to it. You'll be glad you did. Here are the directions telling how to find the teaching online, both for listening to and reading it. . . . TO READ OR PRINT IT: 1) Go to the website at www.gty.org 2) Click on "transcripts". 3) Scroll down. 4) Click on "How to Study Your Bible: Interpretation". . . . Note: "How to Study Your Bible: Interpretation" is listed along with the date, April 26 and 27, 2001. . . . TO LISTEN TO IT: 1) At the www.gty.org website, click on "listen now". 2) Click on "broadcast archives". 3) Click on "How to Study Your Bible: Interpretation". . . . If I were reading it for the first time, I would print it out, highlight it, make notes in the margins, etc. Then I would listen to it on the website and follow along by reading the printed text. Hope you find this recommendation helpful. I believe you will. Take care! JVH0212 |
