Bible Answer: Greetings Jordan! I'm not sure if I follow your question correctly, but here is my response. There are two kinds of innocence. Innocence before God and innocence before man. Scripturally, we know that know of us are innocent before God. Rom. 3:23 makes it clear that we have all sinned against Him. But, we can be innocent in our relationship to other people. For instance, consider the Sept. 11 act of terroism. Some argue that the terroists have a legitimate complaint against the United States because of our policies (I don't happen to agree). Assume for the moment that they are correct. Assume that the United States has wronged these terroists. What did the people in the World Trade Center towers have to do with any of that? They had done nothing to the terroists. They had done nothing to deserve death. So, in this sense, an innocent victim would be someone who had done nothing to deserve being victimized. Even if we are not innocent in our relations to others, man does not have the right to take vengance upon those who have wronged him. Rom. 12:19 says, " Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord." I hope this helps!
