Bible Question:
How do you become sensitive to the Holy Spirit? I understand that there is something about letting yourself go "free" in a sense and not to limit God, but then there's also the side of not going into total meditation upon nothing, and there's also the balance of not being falsely/humanly emotional. What's the balance? Also, how does one meditate upon the Word of God? Like just run the verse over and over through his head? Or what? I would appreciate biblical references when possible, and it'd be nice to have personal experience answers. But all answers I'll accept and sieve through them myself. Thanks a bunch for even reading this! |
Bible Answer: Heartfire ... Hagah (growl)is the word translated meditate in Jos 1:8 where the Law isn't suppose to depart out our mouth. Siyach (muse, ponder) is the word translated meditate in Psa 119, as cited. Jeremiah ate His word (Jer 15:16) ... the word is akal, which menas devour. Don't reread the passage unless you need to. I think it would be better to read it slowly, chewing on it. The Bible is not a book to be used for speedreading. Being sensitive to the Holy Spirit starts with being still (Psa 46:10) ... there may be emotion times. But, He will prompt you to do something and you cannot shake it. Before acting pray and seek wise counsel, for it could be something not of Him. I hope I answered your question Searcher |
