Bible Question: so many different, which ones used mostly |
Bible Answer: Lillie: I have done a little research on your question and haven't yet found a documented answer. So my tentative answer will not be scientific. Instead, it will be based on personal observation of several factors: which translations fill most of the shelf space in bookstores, what translations people carry to church, the translations I see in people's homes, and the most often preached out of translations (including preachers at church, preachers on radio-TV, visiting missionaries, etc.) Based on my observation, the two translations which appear to be the most used in general are: the King James Version and the NIV. Supposedly the NIV leads the KJV in sales, but I'm not going to declare that as fact unless I can back it up with documentation. I wouldn't argue which translation sells the most -- KJV or NIV. But I think we can safely say the two top selling and most used versions are the KJV and the NIV, without arguing about which of the two is number one. |
