AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 5:8 And when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb (Christ), each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of fragrant incense, which are the prayers of the saints (God's people). |
Bible Question:
"...golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints." What does this verse teach about the significance of our prayers? |
Bible Answer: Load ... This may be only in the future, or it could include us today. No matter what, our prayers should be significant. They need to be from our full heart, not just empty words. The the context all our prayers are mixed together - crossing all man made lines. We will pray as one, as Jesus wants (Jhn 17:17). Incense orders are given in Exo 30:1-10, and the formula in verses 34-38. Gold is precious ... the bowls are containers, like us and our hearts ... they are totally used "full" ... and the incense means they have an appeal to God. "May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice" (Psa 141:2) Remember "the prayer of the upright is His delight" (Pro 15:8) Just some thoughts ...
