NASB | Revelation 3:19 'Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 3:19 'Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I rebuke and discipline [showing them their faults and instructing them]; so be enthusiastic and repent [change your inner self--your old way of thinking, your sinful behavior--seek God's will]. [Prov 3:11, 12; Heb 5:8; 12:5-7] |
Bible Question: I know that the word repent has a compound definition and that is to ask for forgiveness and turn away from. If this is so is there forgiveness for sin done wilingly? Even if this person knows that they will commit this sin again? |
Bible Answer: Hello ydolomite If it's known beforehand that the sin will re-occur, we can hardly call it repentance, because there was no turning away. If, however, there IS a definite turning away with no intention of committing the sin (although it may happen) then we could call it repentance. Does that help? Steve |
