Bible Question: I am writing an exegetical paper on John's letter to the church at Laodicea. I am having a really hard time coming up with solid material to study and was wondering if anyone could help me with either a good source, or even some personal reflection as to what the passage means. It would be of great help! Thanks! |
Bible Answer: Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: When a church sits under a type of preaching and ministry that places an emphasis on material blessings as a sign that God is on their side. When a church calls the abundance of activity "fruit." When a church vaunts itself and says "this is the greatest hour the church has ever known" When a church says "we have more faith or more knowledge than Paul had" When a church says "success" is when you have a high paying job. When a church says "they have been saved to do all these abominations" When a church says "they are covered by the blood" and wink at sin. |
