AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 3:12 'He who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God], I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God; he will most certainly never be put out of it, and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which descends out of heaven from My God, and My [own] new name. Bible Question: What is the significance of the white stone in Revelation 2:17? |
Bible Answer: The white stone refers to the new name by which all redeemed will be known. Revelation 3:12 tells us what that name will be. 3: 12 says "the name of My God and the name of the city of God". In speculation I would assume the name of god to be Jesus, Emmanuel-God with Us, the city of God being Zion-the pure in heart. Therfore the new name we will be called in paraphrase is "the pure in heart who abide in Jesus". Names represent the character of the individual in the Bible. This being the case, God would give us a new name as he gave Abram when He called him Abraham or Jacob whom He named Israel. Isaiah 65:15 says that God will call his people by a another name. |
