AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 18:13 and cinnamon and spices and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat; of cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and carriages; and of slaves and human lives. |
Bible Question: Is this reference to "slaves and human lives" a reference to future slave trading during the tribulation era (possibly not as aresult of racial distinction as historically applied, but of a social/religious persecution against those who refuse to "buy and sell under the mark of the beast"? |
Bible Answer: Yes, kdnits! This reference to "slaves and human lives" could very well be a reference to future slave trading during the tribulation. The MacArthur Study Bible makes a comment on this verse, "'bodies and souls of men.' The slave trade, long banned by the civilized nations of the world, will reappear in Antichrist's debauched commercial system." Good observation! Nolan |
