Bible Question:
what is the meaning of eating the scroll or taking the book out of the angel hand in revelations and eating the book |
Bible Answer: Greetings MeLuvYou0627, Revelation 10:10 "Then I took the little book out of the angel's hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter." [NKJV] Here is a bit of commentary on Revelation 10:9-10.. "Take and eat it. This act graphically illustrates taking in God's Word. John's physical reactions demonstrate what every believer's proper response to God's judgment should be (cf. Ezek. 3:1)-sweet anticipation of God's glory and our victory, and at the same time, the bitterness of seeing God's wrath poured out on those who reject His Son. your stomach bitter. As he truly digests what the seal, trumpet, and bowl judgments hold in store for the sinner, John becomes nauseated. sweet as honey in your mouth. But still God's final victory and vindication are sweet realities to the believer." (1) "10:9-10 The eating of the little book (scroll) was to remind John that, although these truths from God may be pleasant to his taste, they were bitter when digested because they spoke of judgment. The revelation of God's judgment, on careful reflection, should always bring heaviness of heart to the child of God. Compare Ezek. 2:8-3:3." (2) I hope that these help!
