AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 1:4 ¶ John, to the seven churches that are in [the province of] Asia: Grace [be granted] to you and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being], from Him Who is [existing forever] and Who was [continually existing in the past] and Who is to come, and from the seven Spirits that are before His throne, [Is 11:2] |
Bible Question: Who are the seven spirits before God's throne in Revelation 1:4? |
Bible Answer: As you probably know, the number seven usually refers to "completion, fulfillment or perfection" in the scriptures. It is the most common number used in the book of the Revelation. Isaiah refers to seven spirits that will be upon the Christ in Is. 11:2. The all-encompassing "Spirit of the Lord" is listed first and the other six are discriptive attributes of that Holy Spirit. The Lord also used seven descriptive attributes in revealing Himself to Moses in Ex.34:6-7. When God told Moses to tell the people that His name was "I AM", He was saying that He was what ever the people needed at any given time, thus the many descriptive names for God among the Children of Isreal (the Lord is my Banner, the Lord is my Healer, my Peace, ect.) All these point to the completness and sufficiency of our God. Perhaps the Lord will show you the answer to your question using some of these ideas.Mr.Book |
