AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 1:18 and the Ever-living One [living in and beyond all time and space]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of [absolute control and victory over] death and of Hades (the realm of the dead). |
Bible Question: Where in the Bible does it say that Jesus went to hell to retrive the keys to death, hell and grave. Or is that someones interpretation of what he belives the scriptures say. |
Bible Answer: Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Jesus went to hell to retrieve the keys to death or hell or the grave. I don't know where people get this idea, but they do not get it from the text of the Bible. Even in Revelation 1:18 where the word keys ("the keys of death and of Hades") is used, it does not say that: Christ WENT TO HELL or that he TOOK BACK KEYS or that he took back anything from SATAN or that Satan at any time HAD CUSTODY of any keys. In the entire King James Version of the Bible, the word "key" appears in 6 verses. The word "keys" appears in 2 verses. Thus, "key" and "keys" appear a total of 8 times in the KJV. |
