NASB | Jude 1:9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jude 1:9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil (Satan), and arguing about the body of Moses, did not dare bring an abusive condemnation against him, but [simply] said, "The Lord rebuke you!" [Deut 34:5, 6; Zech 3:2] |
Bible Question: I read all of that, but it (or I am not seeing the answer) does not read the why of Satan wanting the "dead body" of Moses?? |
Bible Answer: Rebecca The simple answer is we just don't know because scripture never says. However if I was going to a take a guess I would say Satan wanted it so the Israelites could have found it and possibly embalmed it as a mummy and then enshrine it. In effect it would tend to deflect their worship from God onto the man Moses which even today is revered among the Jews. Much like the Shroud to Turin does now for some people. But again that is a guess since scripture is silent on the actual answer. |
