Bible Answer: Dear Abearmenta, Punctuation did not, of course, exist in the original texts. Indeed, there wasn't upper/lower case. For that matter, even spaces are a later invention! Consequently, punctuation is always an interpretational decision made by the translator. For insights into this sort of thing you'd need to track down the "translation notes" for the various versions in question. In a short search I did not find them online. However, if some else knows where they can be found, perhaps they will be kind enough to post a followup to your question. I envy that you are a polyglot.
