NASB | 1 John 5:16 ¶ If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 5:16 ¶ If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not lead to death, he will pray and ask [on the believer's behalf] and God will for him give life to those whose sin is not leading to death. There is a sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for this [kind of sin]. |
Bible Question:
Can anyone clarify what this verse is saying? I've been over and over this one for months, but cannot get it. The only thing I get out of it is that there are 2 types of sins. One that will send you to hell and one that won't. The rest really confuses me. Sal |
Bible Answer: The sin that leads to death is the sin of suicide (killing yourself). Once that sin is commited, you cannot repent, and the bible clearly says thou shalt not kill. In that verse it says "A" sin which means ONE sin, not many but "A"/1 meaning singular. And that sin is to kill yourself, suicide. Hope i answered your question. But if a man kills another man, (not saying its right)he can ask for forgivness because he is still here on earth, but if he kills himself he can't ask for anything. |
