Subject: The Power of Prayer and a Prodigal Child |
Bible Note: Greetings All! God has really been working on me lately concerning prayer. Do we really believe that God answers our prayers? I know that over the course of my life that my faith in prayer has ebbed and wanned. At times, I really believed that God answers prayer. At times, I sort of pushed prayer to the sidelines as something that we ought to do, but it really isn't that important. Lately though, God has really been opening my eyes through a series of very powerful answers to prayer. The lastest concerns our oldest daughter. Many of you, who have been around the forum for awhile, are familiar with the troubles our daughter has been involved in. If not, search for 'Morant61' and 'daughter'. I'm sure that you can find the posts where she is mentioned. To make a long story short, she has been a runaway since she was 14. She will be 19 in Novemeber. She has been around for all of these years, but always coming and going - living on the street. We had not seen her for almost 3 months are we were beginning to get very concerned. Thursday night, I prayed that God would have her get in touch with us. Saturday she did. Even more, she came to church with us on Sunday. What a powerful service we had Sunday morning. Normally, I lead our worship, but I was sick Sunday. So I sat in the pew with my kids. We never made it past the opening praise choruses. God started moving, people started going to the altar to pray. The altar would clear, and then more people would start to go down. Finally, my daughter went down to pray. She has been in church all of her life. She has been asked to go to the altar many times, but always refused. This time, she asked me and the pastor to go down with her. I don't the end result of this story. She is addicted to drugs. She lives on the street. She has engaged in prostitution. But, God can take a sinner and change their lives. So, I am hopeful that God is doing something in her life. Keep her in your prayers. And, remember that God does answer prayer. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
