NASB | 1 John 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus [acknowledging that He has come in the flesh, but would deny any of the Son's true nature] is not of God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and is now already in the world. |
Bible Question:
After reading through some posts on this verse I'd like to examine this portion: "every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God" Are these (spirits) strictly referring to satan and his followers? Does unregenerate man possess this spirit? Can a non-believer be called an antichrist? What did Jesus mean when He said, "He who is not with Me is against Me;"? (Mt 12:30) Does the devil have the ability to "pour out his spirit" upon mankind? (Please support your answer) |
Bible Answer: Dear Mommapbs, The Lord showed me, afresh, the following scriptures this morning. I believe that they answer the questions that you and I recently posted in this forum: Eph 2:1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins [UNREGENERATE MAN], Eph 2:2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air [SATAN], of the spirit [OF SATAN] that is now working in the sons of disobedience [NON-BELIEVERS]. Eph 2:3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath [NON-BELIEVERS], even as the rest. The following scripture implies that any religion or individual who denies that Jesus is the Christ is antichrist. And, of course, if one denies the power of Jesus to save mankind, they also deny God the Father. 1 John 2:22 "Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son." The following speaks of our Lord's mercy on the children of wrath/disobedience, for we are all "sinners saved by grace": Eph 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), Eph 2:6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Eph 2:7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Eph 2:9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Blessings! prazn |
