NASB | 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because God's seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again--who is reborn from above--spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he [who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin, because he is born of God and longs to please Him. |
Subject: Who makes the rules? |
Bible Note: Dear Bapristbred- You have brought up some points that have caused me to do some searching. It seems to me that you are hinting that salvation is somehow earned through works. You said "one cannot see faith WITHOUT works." * James 1:20 - But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? A result of true faith in Christ RESULTS in good works for the christian. According to my study Bible the word dead means without fruit. Therefore, one who does not bear the fruit of righteousness (good works) shows that the free gift of God (salvation) has never been recieved (Reformation Study Bible notes). Faith is key to our salvation and true faith produces good works. We, as sinful humans, can never produce good works that will cause us to "see faith". God Bless, Figgy |
