NASB | 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because God's seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again--who is reborn from above--spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he [who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin, because he is born of God and longs to please Him. |
Subject: Who makes the rules? |
Bible Note: Good morning Ray, I'm not sure if I understand you correctly but I will try to answer this. The Spirit I was talking about and His Spirit are the same thing. Whenever I use a capital S for Spirit, I am talking about the Holy Ghost. So, yes, of course we should follow God's Holy Spirit. That is what will lead us into eternal life. We are a spirit We have the Holy Spirit in us We have a soul Now, if we got into what the difference between our spirit and our soul is, this study could go on forever with everyone's different understandings. I will give you mine and leave it alone because I cannot back it up with scripture. So if someone wants to debate this, I cannot. If someone has an understanding with scripture, I would like to know so I could have a better understanding. Your spirit is your conscience/mind Your soul is your emotions/heart The Spirit of God dwells in us I hope I was able to clear up my statements for you. Let me know Grace and peace, Sal |
