NASB | 1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing [the special gift, the preparation] which you received from Him remains [permanently] in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But just as His anointing teaches you [giving you insight through the presence of the Holy Spirit] about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as His anointing has taught you, you must remain in Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him]. |
Bible Question:
What is to be understood from this text, in particular "and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things"? How do you compare this verse with Matt 28:20 and 2Timothy 2:2? Secondly, does "the anointing" has some special blessing? I hear the term used quite often in certain christian circles, and my view is that at the moment of accepting Christ in our hearts we are established, anointed(blessed in, and by the Holy Spirit) and sealed according to 2 Cor. 1:21-22 |
Bible Answer: The scriptures that you listed are in agreement with each other. when he says that I have no need for any man to teach me, Hes talking about any man made doctrine, and to find faithfull men to carry the truth that you trust. The Holy Ghost will tell you if you are willing to listen what is being taught to you is the truth or not. There are special annointings for specific task. Look at the gifts of the spirit, and the five fold ministries of eph. 4. We all at being saved became partakers of the Holy Ghost, but remember Paul saying, Let us grow up in Him in all things, also about some on the Milk and others on the meat. I hope this helps. DL5 |
