NASB | 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose]. |
Bible Question: When you are baptized, are all your sins washed away, and you start completely over? I guess the question that I'm trying to ask is say if you were married and say that your wife or husband did not commet adultery, but you did legealy get divorced, and the person, was baptized and asked God to forgive you for all your sins, does this make you reborn and wipes away all your sins can this person remarry and be right with GOD? |
Bible Answer: Tennseeehills4: What you are refering to is called baptismal regeneration, which some do believe in. I for one do not accept this view. Scripture clearly indicates that when we confess our sins that God is faithful to cleanse us from our sins. Please read 1 John 1:9. The question of marriage and remarriage is a subject that is a different subject totally. May I refer you to 1 Corinthians Chapter 7. I strongly advise you to seek out your pastor or Christian counselor. In my belief of Scripture as long as neither party has remarried, and there the possibility of hope to reconcile. The real only block to reuniting is when there is one of the couple who has taken up with someone else in a sexual relationship. Even this can be overcome. With God all things are possible. In reality in the world we live today the odds are not in favor of even Christians marriage making it, and a second marriage has a 80 percent chance of failure. a third marriage is almost impossible. Most of the time we carry our problems on with us. I can only encourage you to find a pastor or Christian counselor that can deal with covenant marriage, and either help reunite you or help you to accept this failure and become clean before the Lord. Divorce is always hardness of heart. I pray God will direct your path. justme |
