Bible Question: in 2Peter3:8 it talks about how with the Lord a thousand years is as a day and a day is as a thousand years. Is this talking about us being with the Lord in heaven or is it talking about time (as in a 24 hour day? |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, Sharolyn, If you look at part of the context ... "Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation" (vv 3-4). Look at Matthew 24:36-44, which says no one knows the day or hour of His return, yet be ready. There were people who said He was coming soon. He even said it after (Rev 20:7, 12, 20). Peter was pointing out the soon could be thought of as a week by some, if the day-1,000 years is literal, that would mean it would be 7,000 years. People have continue to say He is ccming soon, even predicting a year ... down to a day. But, it may not be in our lifetime. But, I am ready if He comes before I finish this. Searcher |
