NASB | 2 Peter 3:16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Peter 3:16 speaking about these things as he does in all of his letters. In which there are some things that are difficult to understand, which the untaught and unstable [who have fallen into error] twist and misinterpret, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. |
Bible Question: i am so sorry.i was in a hurry to write.sorry steve.in that passage paul was given wisdom.correct!then if you keep reading it say's "letters".Matthew,Luke,Mark,John, are accounts of his life that those apostles gave of their time with him.right?and then Acts-revelations are letters right?if you keep reading luke 24:45 it say's he opened up the scriptures to them.again matt-rev was not written yet..even though they were inspired by holy spirit..read isa.8:20....jesus told his followers if they wanted to know something about him to begin with moses.I am not a trained bible scholar, but i ask for a understanding.....which he says ask for and the holy spirit(he)will call "all" things to rememberance...just like the "word" is him...and not the actual pages of the bible.john 1:1 the "word became flesh, and the word was god! |
Bible Answer: Hi JASCOTT@CZN,COM, I would like to speak to some of your thoughts. It will be difficult to converse with you because you seem to fluctuate between all capitals and all lower case. I will speak to you as one interested in capitalization of words. This will require a distinction between the word of God (the Bible), and the Word of God (God's Son, God in the flesh). Scriptures tell us that we have to know Jesus as Lord; that He came in the flesh. So when you talk about the Bible (the word of God) being the Word you must keep in mind that Jesus came in the flesh. These words that we study are inspired words and they are the word of God. The Word is God. We have to keep this distinction in mind. You mentioned Isaiah and someone else mentioned John 5:36. I would like to look at those verses together and maybe add a thought. John 5:36, "But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish--the very works that I do--testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me. And the Father who sent (Me) has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form. You do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent. You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify of Me; and you are unwilling to come to (Me) so that you may have life." Parentheses mine for comparison. ** We have eternal life not because of the word of God but because of the finished work of the Word of God and our coming to (Him.) John 5:31, "If (I) alone testify of Myself, My testimony is not true. There is *Another who testifies of Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true. You have sent to John, and he has testified of the truth. But the testimony which I receive is not from man, but (I) say these things so that you may be saved." **It is God who gives us the testimony about Jesus. And when you talk about the testimony of the Holy Spirit you are talking about another Helper. John 14:16, "And I will ask the Father, and (He) will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; (I) will come to you." John 5:43, "I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him. How can you believe, when you receive the glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God? ** We should test the spirits to see if the words that we are exposed to are from God or from only man and his/her interpretation. I believe that Jesus came as a Man and was not just a man. He is God and He is the Spirit of truth that the world cannot receive. John 14:17. John 14:28, "You heard that I said to you, "(I) go away, and I will come to you.'" John 5:45, "Do not think that (I) will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope. For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" ** If you don't believe the words of Moses, how can you believe the words of Christ? But Jesus would say, if you don't believe My words then believe the works that I do. John 5:36, "But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish--the works that I do---" John 6:14, "Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, "This is truly the (Prophet) who is to come into the world."
