NASB | 2 Peter 3:16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Peter 3:16 speaking about these things as he does in all of his letters. In which there are some things that are difficult to understand, which the untaught and unstable [who have fallen into error] twist and misinterpret, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. |
Subject: Poor old Paul! |
Bible Note: Well, Radioman, I guess we just expect too much of poor old Paul. We must keep in mind that he lived in the dark ages before the enlightenment of such luminaries as Word-Faith and Watchtower. And besides, Paul was merely an apostle of Jesus Christ, and the only guidance he had in his writing was the Spirit of God. That doesn't count for much with the New Age crowd. .... Peter in his day observed that the ignorant and unstable had already begun to distort and misinterpret Paul's epistles. With nearly 2,000 years of practice, you'd think they'd get even better at twisting and misconstruing them. Obviously they have. --Hank |
