Bible Question:
I have heard the bible says that no individual should interpret the scriptures. And that it says that the Spirit is the only interpreter of the scriptures. Where are these lines? Does anyone have any opinions on them, is it refering to the spirit as an interpretor uncorrupted by society? Thanks, Slarty |
Bible Answer: We would hope that each of our interpretations would be Spirit led. Unfortunately the flesh gets in the way. Look in the greek dictionary for that word interpretation does it have the same meaning in modern english as it did in 16th century english? I have found the best way to understand the Bible is to let scripture interpret scripture. Meaning whatever I am studying I should seek out many scriptures on that subject in order to get the proper view. All scripture must harmonize if something doesn't sound right I must need more 'keys' to get the right harmony. One scripture can not cancel out another all scripture must flow together like the keys on a piano. The piano can be in perfect tune but the sound changes on how you put the notes together.
