Bible Question:
I have heard the bible says that no individual should interpret the scriptures. And that it says that the Spirit is the only interpreter of the scriptures. Where are these lines? Does anyone have any opinions on them, is it refering to the spirit as an interpretor uncorrupted by society? Thanks, Slarty |
Bible Answer: Hello Slarty, Here is the verse you asked about. The whole thing is 2 Pet 1:19-21. What it says is that the prophesies given by God to His people to share in the Scriptures were not of a private nature but rather done by the Holy Spirit. Now on the other hand, the is safety in a multitude of counselors, so when studying the Scriptures, it's good to get understanding from spiritually-minded people. Steve |
