Bible Note: I think the original illustration said, “If you write to your Aunt Mildred, would you think that anyone other than Aunt Mildred should interpret what you have written with the intent of her interpretation?†Are now to understand that God gave us men down through history to help us understand what a letter written to Aunt Mildred should have read to Aunt Mildred? Wasn’t the hue and cry of the Enlightened Generation that every man was capable of understanding for himself what scripture was saying? Why do these men have a better understanding than any other man? Does this not neglect that for 1500 before this Aunt Mildred and others did read and understand but then the Enlightened Ones said oh no you have it all wrong it is like this? Again Aunt Mildred had received the letter, had read it for herself and had lived by her interpretation of that letter for 1500 years. Then one day “Enlighten individuals†came on the scene and said, “Oh Aunt Mildred you have it all wrong, here is what these letters are really saying.†When Aunt Mildred questioned the Enlightened ones they told her she was using mysticism and low view of the letter and that a high view without the mysticism the letter said thus and such. However Aunt Mildred and almost everyone agreed with Aunt Mildred had interpreted from the letters were in fact correct and that they should now worry about what others said. However those that disagreed with Aunt Mildred refused to let the issue die and even now 600 years later they still demand they are right and everyone else is wrong. |
