AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Peter 3:6 just as Sarah obeyed Abraham [following him and having regard for him as head of their house], calling him lord. And you have become her daughters if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear [that is, being respectful toward your husband but not giving in to intimidation, nor allowing yourself to be led into sin, nor to be harmed]. |
Bible Question: "... and do not give way to fear" - NIV. Fear of what? Perhaps this is something that men wouldn't understand as easily as women since Peter seems to be addressing wives in this verse. I also find it interesting that my wife struggles with anxiety, she has since even before she knew me, and it is something that I have struggled with to understand. If anyone has a better, more specific, response than the one offered in my study Bible I would be very grateful. |
Bible Answer: I have struggled with bipolar disorder for many years and after I became a christian, I looked to the bible for help at my low points. For me, I like to turn to Matthew 6: 25-26 (NIV)25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? This scripture helps me to know God's love for His children and that trusting in Him for everything. I know that worry can be for me a time when I don't trust God and His promises. My husband has been a great support and I know it is through the grace of God that I am here today. I pray that you and your wife will find the peace and healing you seek. God Bless |
