AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Peter 3:21 Corresponding to that [rescue through the flood], baptism [which is an expression of a believer's new life in Christ] now saves you, not by removing dirt from the body, but by an appeal to God for a good (clear) conscience, [demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, |
Bible Question: If you've been baptisted once, do you need to be baptisted again? Even though you have backslide, but you give your life to Christ again. Thank you, SATNJ |
Bible Answer: i know of no re-baptisms in the scriptures. do you? there are calls to help a wandering believer to repent in galations 6:1 and james 5:19,20 but no mention of a re-baptism. i think the verse you mention of "baptism now saves us" is clarified by peter in the next line -"not the removal of dirt from the flesh" which i think is the physical water but an inward aspect instead - "but an appeal to god for a good conscience -through the resurrection of jesus christ" |
