Bible Question: How can one know about God and his Nature? |
Bible Answer: It would be good for anyone asking this question to study the Pauline Epistles. There are two ways that man can know God: 1) general revelation, and 2) Special Revelation. General Revelation refers to His creation. Through His creation we not only reason that there is a GOd but we can know about his Characteristics. Through special Revelation (scripture) God makes His plan's made known and also shows us His Glory. Even Socrates the "Original Philosopher" came to find that the Greek ideal of polytheism was incorrect and not consistent with what was made known through creation. He also knew that the true God was all good and that He did not party and revel in drunkeness as the Greeks believed of their God's. Man is held accountable for what has been made known to him by God; Evil is not seeing what has been made know. Socrates truly was a philosopher; in its true meaning of "the love of wisdom". Others call themselves philosophers but never even come to a belief in God. This is because they do not seek God through His ways, but seek to gain understanding on their own and not through Him. Our whole purpose on earth is to know our creator in a more intimate way, and we must pursue him without ever coming to complacency. God Loves You and desires that through both His creation (Word; John 1:1), and His scripture you will come to Love Him more than anything. |
