Bible Question:
Hello, I am starting a new year of college in the fall, and I would like to read the entire Bible during the school year. I'm looking for a physical book/study guide (I'm not very good at technology/online stuff), but other than that, I don't know what to look for. I know that there are one year Bible Study programs for reading the bible in a calendar year, but I haven't found anything geared toward a college schedule (1/2 the Bible in fall semester, 1/2 in spring). Could anyone make a recommendation for me, or perhaps point me in the right direction? Thank you. |
Bible Answer: Hi, College Student... Welcome to the forum! There are under 1,200 chapters in the Bible. For the sake of simplicity, let's say you have 260 days in which to fulfill two college semesters. That will mean that you will need to read about 4.5 chapters a day to achieve your goal of reading the Bible through in your first year of college. So why not start out by trying to read 5 chapters a day? Keep track of the total. Since you will be reading 3.5 chapters more per week than necessary, that will allow you to make some adjustments for some of the really long chapters. After all, you'll run into some short ones, too. You might find it helpful to put the date you read a chapter in the margin of your Bible. Doing that kind of thing sometimes helps one to persevere in there reading. By the way, you can listen to the entire Bible in under 80 hours. It is a bit like flying over a forest at 2,500 feet. But it is surprising the kinds of things one can learn from the experience. God bless you in your efforts to diligently read the Word. In Him, Doc |
