Bible Question: What are the steps to sanctification? Are there degrees or different levels? |
Bible Answer: The sanctification that Joshua commands refers to purification rituals the Israelites observed before coming into the presence of God. They were about to witness a manifestation of God's presence among them when they crossed the Jordan River on dry ground. Obviously, they took to heart God's command to "be holy, because I am holy!" It gives us pause to consider how we approach God. Do we prepare our hearts, through confession and repentance to become cleansed vessels, suitable for His filling? These are the "steps to sanctification." However . . . Sanctification is a work of the Holy Spirit,(1 Peter 1:2) but we must be willing to cooperate with the process! Check out the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) as a self-test. Is there evidence of His sanctifying work in your life? As we grow in the knowledge of Jesus, we will begin to reflect more and more of His character in our lives. This is the result of His Spirit at work in us, but we must CHOOSE to let Him be in control! 1 Pet 2:9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; |
