AMPLIFIED 2015 | Joshua 17:6 because the daughters of [Zelophehad, a descendant of] Manasseh had received an inheritance among his [other] sons [whose inheritance went to their male descendants]. The land of Gilead belonged to the rest of the sons of Manasseh. [Num 36:5-12] |
Bible Question: Who are the daughters of Manasseh? and Who is the half-tribe of Manasseh, what land was given to them and where is the land? and Why are they called the half-tribes? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Num 27:1-11, 36:1-13; Jos 13:9-12, 17:1-18 ... tecknic, greetings The reason we say "half-tribe of Manasseh" is because Manasseh received land east of the Jordan (Jos 13:9). Other tribes shared in the land (vv 9-12). The daughters of Manasseh are mentioned (Jos 17:6) in allocation rest of the land of Manasseh (Jos 17). Zelophehad had daughters and not sons (vs 3). They asked for their portion (vs 4) that the Lord had commanded (Num 27:5-7). Read Numbers 27:1-11 and 36:1-13, for the rest of the story. Hope I answered your question, Searcher |
