Bible Question:
Why is complianing (grumbling) singled out? Why does it call for judgement? How does it fit in light of patience? |
Bible Answer: Hello there Steve, we should not complain for the Lord could return any minute! Do you want Him to catch us complaining? We must show ourselves approved through our conduct as examples so that we may be rewarded for our faith and perseverance. "Last Things, Return Promises—The coming of the Lord will mean vindication for the faithful. Righteousness will be rewarded, and evil punished. The prospect of that coming offers motivation for patience, in the sense of steadfastness or endurance. On the other hand, the coming of the Lord will mean judgment for some. Those who oppress others are known by the Lord Almighty (vv. 1-6). Not only these, but even the faithful who fail to remain strong can expect judgment." (Disciple's Study Bible) --Nolan |
