NASB | James 5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours [with the same physical, mental, and spiritual limitations and shortcomings], and he prayed intensely for it not to rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. [1 Kin 17:1] |
Bible Question: Is this power through prayer available to us today? Note: Elijah was 'a man with a nature like ours'.. |
Bible Answer: I believe that this power is available simply on the basis of Hebrews 13:8 that says "Jesus is the same yesterday, and today, and forever". I also believe that we have trouble releasing that power because of unbelief. Unbelief is powerful as we can see in Nazareth where Jesus cannot do miracles because of unbelief. If you read Ephesians Ch.3, verses 19 and 20 are part of Paul's prayer that we might be filled with the fulness of GOD. I believe that the "fulness of GOD" includes the power that Jesus had to do miracles. Jesus said we would do the things that HE did and more. There have been individuals throughout history that have clearly manifested great power. The prophetic words of today point to an even greater release of HIS power and I believe that time is here. |
