Bible Question:
"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" is an aphorism that is repeated in James 4:6 and in 1 Peter 5:5. In my experience, humility has only come through humiliation, and I am thankful to the Lord for His Hebrews 12 ministrations! Nevertheless, this passage calls us to actively humble ourselves. I am interested in knowing how others believe this is done. Is this strictly a matter of how we "reckon" ourselves? Has anyone found a way to implement this in their daily walk with our Lord? |
Bible Answer: DocTrinsofgrace, I have found from personal experience that humbing oneself usually is related to accepting andd acknowledgeing the fact that often when we have been humiliated it is due to our own failing, not someone else, and then altering our behavior. The alternative is to repeat the process unless we get the point. Some donkeys take more than one whack with the 2 x 4 to get the message. Emmaus |
