NASB | James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 4:10 Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose]. |
Bible Question (short): How do you humble yourself? |
Question (full): "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" is an aphorism that is repeated in James 4:6 and in 1 Peter 5:5. In my experience, humility has only come through humiliation, and I am thankful to the Lord for His Hebrews 12 ministrations! Nevertheless, this passage calls us to actively humble ourselves. I am interested in knowing how others believe this is done. Is this strictly a matter of how we "reckon" ourselves? Has anyone found a way to implement this in their daily walk with our Lord? |
