NASB | James 3:1 Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 3:1 Not many [of you] should become teachers [serving in an official teaching capacity], my brothers and sisters, for you know that we [who are teachers] will be judged by a higher standard [because we have assumed greater accountability and more condemnation if we teach incorrectly]. |
Bible Question:
There is a verse that says that everyone should not want to be a teacher (preacher) becase preachers are in a position to corrupt many and will be punished more as a result of that. Could I get Chapter and verse? |
Bible Answer: andyand, Greetings and welcome to the forum. James 3:1 may not directly address ones desire to be a teacher, but what it does tell us here though is that those of us who are teachers are going to be held to a higher standard,it also calls all of us to accountability for what we teach,. Thus 2 Timothy 2:15. In Christ, lionheart. |
