Bible Question:
A woman gave into her flesh and had sex after being kepted for 1yr 7months. She aknowledges her sin but is not sorry it happend. Repentances is only affective if one is truely sorry. Is there any reason to ask God for forgiveness? |
Bible Answer: Dear hunger, Your first statement "A woman gave into her flesh .... " What do you mean? Was she willing or unwilling under threatening? You say "She acknowledges her sin but is not sorry..." We can acknowledge many things, be it a fact, an incidence or a theory.... just as what was said in James 2:19 without any influences on us. I urge you to read the whole chapter of James 2. Without a repenting heart, what's the reason to ask for forgiveness? It also doesn't make sense even to ask a friend for forgiveness when one does not feel sorry nor is not willing to repent. Know that our God is Mighty and HOLY and cannot be deceived. "What is repentance? Let me read to you from the Westminster Confession of Faith, a document that comes to us from the seventeenth century: "By [repentance] a sinner, out of the sight and sense not only of the danger, but also of the filthiness and odiousness of his sins, as contrary to the holy nature and righteous law of God; and upon the apprehension of his mercy in Christ to such as are penitent, so grieves for, and hates his sins, as to turn from them all unto God, purposing and endeavoring to walk with him in all the ways of his commandments. . . yet [repentance] is of such necessity to all sinners, that none may expect pardon without it. As there is no sin so small that it deserves damnation; so there is no sin so great that it can bring damnation upon those who truly repent. Men ought not to content themselves with a general repentance, but it is every man's duty to endeavor to repent of his particular sins, particularly" (Westminster Confession of Faith, chapter XV, sections II, III, IV)." - by P. G. Mathew (source: http://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/) Hope I did not misunderstand you. Your further elaboration would be very much appreciated. Shalom Azure |
