NASB | James 2:14 ¶ What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 2:14 ¶ What is the benefit, my fellow believers, if someone claims to have faith but has no [good] works [as evidence]? Can that [kind of] faith save him? [No, a mere claim of faith is not sufficient--genuine faith produces good works.] |
Subject: Second hand faith is workless! |
Bible Note: Thanx Dear, Thats what I was thinking I just wanted to make sure.I dont like sticking my foot in my mouth. The greek word for faith here is pistis-faith,faithfulness,belief,trust,with an implication that action based on that trust may follow. pistis conotates action. Works may not save us but they evidence what we do or do not have.Bottom line faith without the evidence to back it up is no faith at all.People often mistake intalectual or mental ascent with faith which it is not. Your faith,Docs,Rays may encourage and even inspire me to get closer to God but I cant live on or by your faith.I must have a practicing faith that only comes with a living personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I hope this helps,God bless you my sister. lionheart |
