Subject: Must Christians follow OT Law? |
Bible Note: Hi Jeff, I base my statement ("What Christians are free from is not the Law itself, but free from the penalty of failing to keep the Law.) on the following verses. Romans 7:6 But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter. Whether we translate the verb as “released” or (as you suggested) delivered, it does not change the fact that we must serve the Law in the Spirit. Rom 7:25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin. The Law referred to is the Ten Commandments. I believe that the fact that they were written in stone by God Almighty himself has particular significance!
