Bible Question (short): Need Clarification on Asking/Receiving |
Question (full): I'm confused about James 1:6-8 which reads; "But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways". This confuses me because in verse 6 we're told to ask for things in faith without doubting. I know it doesn't "specifically" say we'll receive it, but it does elude to this otherwise what's the purpose? Also, in other parts of the Bible we're taught "ask and yea shall receive". But in verse 7 it says not to expect anything from the Lord and this has me a bit confused, it just seems a bit contradictory to me and I could use some clarification. |
