NASB | James 1:25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 1:25 But he who looks carefully into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and faithfully abides by it, not having become a [careless] listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he will be blessed and favored by God in what he does [in his life of obedience]. |
Bible Question (short): What is the "perfect law?" |
Question (full): We are told in Romans 6:14 that we are not under the law but under grace. What is the "perfect law, the law of liberty?" How does one "look intently" at this? Does the worldly concept of the word "law" interfere with what God intends for His children? (imo, punishment is the deterrent for would-be law breakers; how does this compare to the perfect law?) |
