NASB | James 1:20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 1:20 for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us]. |
Bible Question: Proverbs 19:19 NIV - "A hot tempered man must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you will have to do it again". To me this means if I save him from paying the penalty, I'll have to save him again, because there's no getting around paying a penalty, if one is to be paid. Am I correct? |
Bible Answer: hello again, godsstudent: you're pretty close but not quite a bulls eye!! it's not so much about "paying a penalty, if one is to be paid", as you said, but more about changing the behavior (hot temper). this behavior, which is sinful and offensive to God, will not correct itself and will most likely get worse over time. an effective means of preventing this behavior from worsening would be to have the hot tempered man be accountable (suffer the consequences/pay the penalty) of his actions. God bless you as you study the word of God! |
